KODAMA
These small medal forms are inspired by the Japanese myth of the Kodama- protector spirits of the forest which inhabit primordial mountains and valleys. They are featured in Hayao Miyazaki’s film – Princess Mononoke, a childhood favorite of mine. Each small shape presents a different dynamic of the wooden material used and various compositions of the small spirits of the forest, cast in aluminium. Mother nature’s incredible diversity stimulates an artist’s senses and inspires him to create. These works were made for the joint exhibition “Condition” which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. With these medals, the author concludes the cycle Nature… The color, the sound.
This sculpture was created for a joint exhibition with Katya Potzkova “Condition”, space “MASSTAB” in Sofia, Bulgaria.
